After seven years away from the studio, the Trinidadian twin brothers behind IslandB return as independent artists, label owners, and living proof that purpose has no expiration date.
Born to Music in San Juan, Trinidad & Tobago
For fraternal twins Smooth & Storm, music was never just entertainment. It was identity. Raised in San Juan, Trinidad & Tobago, the brothers grew up surrounded by a melting pot of sound: Soca and Dancehall, Reggae, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Neo-Soul. Each genre left its mark, and together they shaped the artists the brothers would become.
They began singing and writing at around seven years old. What started as a childhood passion grew into a professional career that carried them far beyond the shores of the Caribbean.
Milestones and a Sound All Their Own
The duo’s résumé speaks for itself. They became the first Trinidadian artists to win BET’s 106 & Park, earned two Georgia Music Award nominations, and gained radio and television exposure. Their performances and cover recordings have also drawn more than three million views on YouTube, building a global audience.
Yet the accomplishment they hold closest is creative: a sound that is authentically theirs. They call it IslandB, a fusion of Caribbean rhythms and contemporary R&B. Rather than chase industry trends, Smooth & Storm built music that honors their heritage while speaking to listeners everywhere.
“We believe originality will always outlast imitation.”

Seven Years Away
Behind every success is a chapter the public rarely sees. For Smooth & Storm, that chapter was heavy. The brothers endured devastating personal losses, including the tragic death of their first manager and the passing of someone very close to their family. Combined with the responsibilities of fatherhood, family, and entrepreneurship, these experiences led to a seven-year hiatus from recording.
But the dream never left.
On March 28, 2024, the brothers stepped back into the recording studio. For them, it was more than a return to music. It was proof that purpose doesn’t expire. They came back with greater maturity, renewed faith, and a deeper understanding of who they are, both as artists and as men.
Their perspective on those years is clear: adversity doesn’t necessarily come to destroy you. Sometimes it comes to develop you, strengthen your character, and prepare you for what’s next.
Building Beyond the Music
Smooth & Storm’s ambitions have never stopped at the microphone.
Caribbean Unity Records Entertainment LLC (C.U.R.E.) is the independent label the brothers founded around creative ownership, artistic freedom, and lasting legacy. The name reflects their belief that the music industry needs more authenticity, meaningful artistry, and genuine connection, an antidote to a business that can prioritize trends over originality.
They have also made their mark in fashion with Francis Elliot, an independent clothing and eyewear brand established in 2019. The brand has grown into retail locations in Arizona, including Tempe and Scottsdale, a reflection of the brothers’ commitment to turning creative ideas into real businesses.
The lessons from these ventures are consistent: ownership, discipline, consistency, and creating opportunities rather than waiting for them.
The Comeback
In 2026, Smooth & Storm began introducing a new chapter through C.U.R.E.
- “Wine & Go Down” (January 1, 2026): The first release of the new era, bursting with Caribbean influence and energy.
- “MINE”: An R&B record that reveals another dimension of the duo’s artistry.
- “ANYWHERE”: Their latest single, and a deeply meaningful one. Though released later in the campaign, it was the first song they professionally recorded after returning to the studio in 2024. Inspired by the timeless sound of 1990s R&B, it blends nostalgia, intimacy, and the brothers’ own creative identity. The single has already begun reaching listeners in the United Kingdom, Russia, and China.
- “Y.O.L.O. (You Only Live Once)”: Coming soon, a song centered on love, vulnerability, and embracing life’s opportunities.
The comeback has drawn growing media attention, with features in Shoutout Arizona, CanvasRebel, Caribbean Elite Magazine, and Platinum Indies, along with radio interviews and promotional opportunities.

More Than Music
As fathers, husbands, brothers, entrepreneurs, and artists, Smooth & Storm now measure success differently. Recognition, money, and popularity matter less than the lives you impact, the example you set, and the legacy you leave.
Their hope is that their story reaches anyone who has ever believed too much time has passed to chase a dream. Whether you’re 25, 35, 45, or older, they say, your circumstances do not have to determine your destination.
Their message is simple:
You are not too old to begin again. You are not defined by your setbacks. And you should never allow a temporary season of adversity to convince you that your purpose has expired.
Smooth & Storm aren’t simply making a comeback. They’re continuing a story that was never finished.
